The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Somalia in Malaysia was honored to receive an official visit from H.E. Mr. Faarah Sheikh Abdulkadir, Minister of Education, Culture, and Higher Education, and H.E. Mr. Ali Mohamed Omar, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The ministers were accompanied by a delegation of senior officials from their respective ministries.
Purpose of the Visit
The visit aimed to gain first-hand insight into the Embassy’s ongoing work, assess the general situation of the mission, and review the performance and operational structure of Somali diplomatic staff in Malaysia. The ministers expressed their appreciation for the Embassy’s dedication to advancing Somalia’s foreign relations, supporting Somali citizens in Malaysia, and promoting the nation’s image abroad.
Engagements and Discussions
During the visit, a general introductory meeting was held, bringing together the visiting ministers, Embassy diplomats, and staff. The meeting provided an opportunity for open discussion, mutual introductions, and a review of key Embassy activities and priorities.
Following the general session, a special working meeting took place between the ministers, H.E. Ambassador Ali Mohamed Abukar (Ali Wolf), and Deputy Head of Mission Mr. Abdidhahir Abdirahman. The meeting included a detailed presentation on the Embassy’s current operations, achievements, and challenges, as well as ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Somalia and Malaysia.
Remarks and Observations
In their remarks, the ministers commended the Embassy’s leadership and staff for their professionalism and commitment to representing Somalia with dignity and effectiveness. They underscored the vital role embassies play in implementing Somalia’s foreign policy, supporting the diaspora, and fostering collaboration in education, trade, and cultural exchange.
Ambassador Ali Mohamed Abukar (Ali Wolf) expressed his gratitude for the visit, describing it as a strong show of support from the Federal Government of Somalia. He reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to serving Somali citizens, promoting national interests, and strengthening diplomatic engagement with Malaysia and the broader Southeast Asian region.
Strengthening Institutional Cooperation
The visit concluded with mutual pledges to enhance coordination between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education, and Somalia’s overseas missions. Both ministers emphasized the importance of closer institutional linkages to ensure that Somalia’s embassies remain effective instruments of national development and international cooperation.
The visit marked an important step in reinforcing the partnership between Somalia’s government institutions and its diplomatic missions abroad, reflecting a shared vision of progress, accountability, and service to the Somali people.
